Geosentric ITS 2023 is the flagship Geomatics Science and Arts event organized by the Association of Geomatics Engineering Students at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). The event required a robust and scalable web solution to manage registrations, competition workflows, and a fully web-based examination system with advanced technical requirements.

Building a Custom Exam Platform
Beyond simple registration systems
Geosentric ITS 2023 required more than just an event website. It demanded a fully functional web-based exam platform capable of handling multiple competition rounds and diverse question formats. The complexity included: • Multiple choice questions (single correct answer) • Fill-in-the-blank with precise validation • Essay questions requiring manual grading • Custom scoring configurations • Mathematical equation rendering with LaTeX • Fairness through randomized questions This meant designing a system that was technically robust, flexible, and secure.
Modular Exam & Dashboard Architecture
Scalable, configurable, and real-time
To handle these requirements, I developed a modular architecture separating exam logic, grading systems, and user access control. Key implementations: • Dynamic exam configuration for qualification and final stages • Question randomization engine to reduce bias • Automatic grading for objective questions • Manual grading workflow for essay submissions • LaTeX integration to render mathematical equations accurately • Real-time dashboards for participant monitoring The admin dashboard enabled organizers to input and publish results seamlessly, while filtering and sorting capabilities improved operational efficiency.
